I am fortunate that I am able to create and work in many different artistic styles and media. A big part of that comes from me really disliking a routine, doing the same thing over and over again. I have a saying, “even though fried chicken is great, you wouldn’t want to eat it morning, noon and night”. So it is crucial for me to be able to work in different media and create different things artistically. This is way I enjoy my craft and my ability to masterly create desirable beautiful pieces of art.
“At times projects go smoothly …… it is like the paint just runs out from my fingers onto the canvas perfectly. Other times, nothing works at all and the project is completely frustrating. It took me many years to understand my abilities and to come to terms with my limitations as I continue to push the expectations of my potential.”
“I started illustrating images on the exterior of farm buildings in western Kansas as a youth, and on whatever materials were available …… tin, wood shingles, lime stone, etc. Paper and pencils were at a premium ………so whatever materials I was able to use I was grateful”
I have always had an itch that must be scratched – and that is why I must continue to paint.
There is always an image I have that I must put on something ….. canvas, mental, paper, wood.
It is a force bigger than I. My mind says Do It. My physical body says okay.
I have been blessed with this my entire life.
At times the intensity of the force makes me wonder if this is a blessing or a curse?
Then I am reminded of the rewards and blessings I received due to the sacrifices my dear mother made for me.
I will forever be grateful.
